Magdalena Kaufmann (prev. Magdalena Schwager/Scheiner)'s Research

Note on what's in a name: Publications should be referred to by the name under which they were published. Regarding the older publications, I'm always extremely grateful for pointers that mention the new name in addition (e.g. `as Kaufmann claimed/argued/etc. in Schwager (YEAR)') to help minimize confusion - space permitting, of course.

Areas of Interest

I am interested in many areas of formal semantics, as well as its interfaces to syntax, pragmatics, and philosophy. In particular, I have worked on:

While being a formal semanticist, I also have a strong interest in specific natural languages, in particular, my native language German, as well as English, Italian, Japanese, Tagalog, and Hungarian.
